10 Predictions for 2025: A Mid-Year Check-In
More then 6 months ago, fuelled by optimism and caffeine, I shared 10 bold predictions for 2025 across business and life to the Codex Founders Club.
Now it’s time to reflect as we are 1/2 way through. Some have landed beautifully, others missed, and a few still hang intriguingly in the balance.
For your end of financial year pleasure, here’s the original list and my interim self-assessment:
My Original 2025 Predictions:
1. The AI Revolution: More Than Just Ones and Zeros
• Automation surges, pushing governments and businesses to keep humans involved. Expect citizen disclaimers marking content as bot-generated.
• Rise of hybrid human-computer relationships; an ethical puzzle in light of declining birth rates.
Updated Grade: B+ (On track!)
2. Genomics: Your DNA, Your Destiny
• Healthcare embraces genomic testing, making personalised medicine essential.
• My DNA test reveals I’m a nocturnal, Irish-Nordic mix who loves solitude, people, naps, and travel. Clearly, genetics has a sense of humour.
Updated Grade: A- (Spot-on)
3. ESG: The Pragmatic Pivot
• Economic pressures lead businesses to pragmatically balance ESG commitments, with minimum standards becoming mandatory by the ASX in 2026.
Updated Grade: A (Accurate)
4. Cybersecurity: The New Global Language
• Cybersecurity concerns dominate boardrooms and headlines, translating complex threats into clear messages.
Updated Grade: A (Nailed it)
5. Social Commerce: The Influencer Economy Evolves
• Influencers increasingly hosting live shopping events, reshaping how brands interact with customers.
Updated Grade: A- (Solid progress)
6. Geopolitical Chess: Indo-Pacific Edition
• Increasing defence strategies and geopolitical shifts across the Indo-Pacific.
Updated Grade: B+ (Still evolving)
7. Creative Renaissance: Humans Strike Back

8. Australian Economic Breather
• Interest rates to ease mid-2025, providing relief to mortgage holders.
Updated Grade: B (Cautiously optimistic)
9. Political Predictions: Fasten Your Seatbelts
• Federal election around March; Labor retains minority government amid Teal challenges, Liberals make gains in NSW and Victoria.
Updated Grade: C+ (Labor got all the chocolates- but this prediction was made in November 24!)
10. Wild Card: Hawthorn Hawks Grand Final Victory
• Pure wishful thinking as a dedicated Hawks fan.
Updated Grade: C (Heartfelt dreaming but we are 5th on the ladder)
Overall Grade: B+
Insightful forecasts paired with enjoyable optimism.
